National Youth Coalition for Development (YCD) has expressed regret over massive destruction that trailed the #ENDSARS protest held in many states across Nigeria.
The National President of the Association, Comrade Aminu Aminu stated this in a statement made available to Hotpen in Dutse, advised youth in the country, to chose dialogue to press home their demands from government rather than paving a way for the enemies of the country to score cheap political gains through the actions of the youth.
Comrade Aminu explained that the destructions have had far reaching consequences on the economy of the Nation, stated that, Nigerian youth have attained political maturity, standing for justice and fairness for all, irrespective of their cultural, religious and political differences.
The National President stated that, report from the Lagos state Chamber of Commerce and Industry has indicated the magnitude of loss the Nation’s economy was subjected to, having lost over seven hundred billion Naira (#700,000,000,000) to the violence emanated from the peaceful intended protest by the youth across the country.
While commending the youth in the country for drawing the attention of the government to their plights through the protests, advised youth to always chose dialogue to engage the government on the challenges facing them.
This, according to the National President will deny the hoodlums from getting a cover to destroy government and private property
as they did during the nationwide #ENDSARS protests, which he observed, have been at great cost to the nation’s economy that is still reeling from the shocks of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He further commended president Mohammadu Buhari for responding positively to the demands of the Nigerian youth as put forward during the #ENDSARS protests, while urging him
to consider the demands of the protesters and do justice to the victims of the alleged brutality by the disbanded Special Anti Robbery Squad.
Comrade Aminu prayed for the repose of the souls of those who paid the supreme price during the protests and fortitude for their families to bear the losses.
