Governor Muhammed Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa state has revealed that over 150,000 youths have been empowered through various programmes created to reduce poverty as well as become self-reliant in the society.
Speaking at the flagg-off of a one day capacity building workshop organized for the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) held at the Sir Ahmadu Bello Hall in Dutse, Governor Badaru said the development has drastically reduced crime rates among the youth across the state.
The governor who was represented by the deputy governor, Mallam Umar Namadi explained the present government has elevated the rate of rice production from the initial inherited of an average of 2.5 tonnes per a hectares to 6 tonnes per hectares in the state.
He pointed out that, the state government had rolled out various forms of poverty alleviation programmes to ensure the continued peace being experienced in the state. ” We are all living witness of the tremendous changes implemented through various policies and programs of APC led Muhammed Badaru Abubakar in the state”. He noted.
In his address, the Deputy Force PRO, CSP Aremu Sikiru Addniran explained that one of the objectives of creating PCRC is to Forster unity amongst the police and members of the community in crime prevention, said the objective include periodic organization of seminars, workshops and conferences amongst others to empower members on crime preventions, strategies and intelligence gathering.
CSP Sikiru stated further that PCRC is partly responsible for the scouting of capable hands into the recruitment of constables and encourage qualified members of the community to seek for a career in the Nigeria police force.
The police deputy PRO criticized those hundreds of the PCRC members that have refused the functions of the association to a jamboree for attending monthly meetings while the commutes with which they are representing are facing security challenges within their domains.
