Katsina state governor, Aminu Bello Masari has announced that the 344 abducted school boys of Government Science Secondary School Kankara in the state has regained freedom.
Addressing newsmen at Government House, Katsina over the release, Governor Masari said some 344 students were set free by their abductors following negotiations by the state and federal governments.
Masari said no ransom was paid for the abductees’ release, even as he explained that the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), mediated in the engagement between security operatives and the bandits.
The governor further explained that the children were confirmed to be in good health as they are right now being conveyed from the Zamfara border to Katsina town.
His words: – “We sent buses from the state transport authority to convey them from Zamfara state to Katsina”.
The governor said he would personally receive the children after which they would be subjected to medical examinations and subsequently reunited with their families.
