Despite the COVID-19 challenges, the Kano/Jigawa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has generated whooping sum of N21.01 billion this year 2020.
The Comptroller General of the command, Mr. Suleiman Umar dropped the hints, said the N20bn target for the year was surpassed noting that “this is also 8.4 per cent higher than that of the 2019 figure.
His words:- “In 2019 we generated N13bn as against the N21bn of this year. This is commendable despite the COVID-19 challenges”
Suleiman explained that 353 seizures with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N925 million were made while 15 suspected smugglers were apprehended and on administrative bail.
According to him, in the last two weeks, the command has recovered seized items with a duty paid value of N24m, added that this shows how committed and resilient our men are.
