The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has constructed and commissioned two blocks of medical students hostels at the Federal University Dutse worth N500million.
Speaking at the official commissioning/handing over of the hostels to the university, the Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Mele Kolo Kyari said the project was initiated sequel to the request by the university on the need to construct the medical hostels, added that the project was part of corporate social responsibility of the organization.
Mele Kyari was represented by the General manager corporate social responsibility, Ahmed Laminu stated that the project was awarded to a reputable company and was completed within stipulated time as contained in the contractual agreement, said mattresses and beds were provided in all the 44 rooms in each of the two blocks of hostels.
His words: – “NNPC has constructed 88 rooms in the two blocks of hostels for both male and female, each block contained 44 rooms and provided with all beddings materials”.
Earlier speaking, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Fatima Batul stated that the project was among the pioneer projects started and completed, stressed that it has come at a right time the university required it, as it will reduce congestion.
Prof. Batul further explained the project was started by the late GMD, Maikanti Baro and was later overtaken and completed by the present leadership of Mele Kyari, she solicits for more intervention from NNPC which include access road, sport complex and mosque.
