The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Dutse, Professor Abdulkarim Sabo Mohammed has announced that plan is under way to establish faculties of Law and Engineering in addition to the existing ones.
Speaking to Newsmen in Dutse, Jigawa State capital, Professor Abdulkarim Sabo said the university is working towards developing a one-stop centre that will take care of enquiries on all aspects of studentship in the university with various units such as counselling, financial advice, students admission/ registration problem and general enquiry.
Prof. Abdulkarim Sabo Mohammed who is the third substantive Vice-Chancellor said the university is to establish an online student assessment and evaluation feedback of lecturer’s course based to improve teacher’s performance and deliverance of their duties.
According to him, this will afford parents the opportunity to monitor and assess their wards academic performance at will although with the consent of the student at the same time for the student to be guided by a mentor provided by the university.
In addressing accommodation challenges of the staff and students, the university vice-chancellor said the institution is embarking on public-private partnership such as build and operate a system for student’s hostel and owner-occupier for staff in collaboration with private estate developers, state government, TetFund, Federal Ministry of Works and Federal Mortgage.
‘’It is also my ambition to see that a befitting Senate building is built for the University that has all the necessary structures and are well equipped to house the Principal and other administrative officers of the University, including comfortable council and senate chambers with Pro-chancellor’s and external council members offices, said VC.
‘’Development of alternative energy source (Solar plant) to supplement the epileptic power supply from the National grid.’’
‘’Enhance internal revenue generation through commercialization of University farm, improvement and diversification of commercial activities of the University entrepreneurship centre.’’
‘’Strengthen staff welfare through revitalizing of staff revolving loan and micro-financing.’’
‘’Provision of internet connectivity on campus for staff and student through wifi hotspots. This will ensure smooth conduct of e-learning and teaching/research for students and academic staff, respectively.’’
‘’This will enable automation of systems in the University and make administrative and secretarial duties easier.’’
