Senate President Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan has commissioned the 21 year old Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Gashua Community TV in his hometown.
In his welcome address, the Executive Director Engineering NTA, Dr. Stephen Moses described the project as historic in the area to have a Community TV station.
Dr Stephen commended the Senate President for facilitating the completion of the project which according to him will go a long way in bringing people together irrespective of their background, culture and traditions at large.
He added that television stations always entertain, enlighten and educate the populace on government policies and programmes.
His words:- “Television broadcasting is expensive, it requires collective responsibility of every indigene of Gashua for sustenance”.
In her goodwill message, the Vice Chancellor Federal University Gashua, Professor Maimuna Waziri expressed delight on the completion of the project, added that “this is a great development in our society, among those who made it occur were the President of the Senate, it an an opportunity for the community to have an information about the activities of the government and share ideas that will add value to mankind”.
The Director General NTA, Yakubu Muhammed in a speech urged the community members to assist in securing the equipments and the staff.
Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Abdullahi Yusuf Gashua said that before the advent of the NTA Gashua, the community depend on social media but now the President of the Senate and Governor Mai Mala Buni are determined to improve the living conditions of the people via execution of people oriented projects.
He assured to advice the Governor on directing the relevant Government Agencies for patronage and continued support to the television station for enhanced services.
Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of Bade local government Council, Sanda Kara Bade hailed the President of the Senate and Governor Mai Mala Buni for the developmental projects.
Commissioning the project, President of the Senate Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan paid tribute to President Muhammad Buhari for the support and cooperation “Mr. President we’re grateful.” According to him CBN and federal government have funded alot of projects in his senatorial district, aknowledging the efforts of Governor Mai Mala Buni.
He urged the University Community in Gashua to take full availability of the NTA through patronage and support.
Lawan pledged the donation of Toyota vehicle, Bus and furnishing to the television station.
