The Jigawa State Emergency and Management Agency (SEMA) has announced its plan to seek for more support and assistance from ministries, department and Non-Governmental (NGO’s) for the victims of 2019 in the state.
The Executive Secretary of the agency, Alhaji Yusuf Sani Babura made this known in a Radio Jigawa weekly programme Fitila monitored in Dutse.
He said the agency has compiled the list of all the flood victims drawn from the 22 local government areas of the state and forwarded to Abuja for possible assistance.
Alhaji Babura said the 2020 flood disaster was more severe than that of 2019 as over 325,460 hectares of farm land were destroyed while 349,179 people were affected by the flooding, lamenting that 70 people lost their lives during the disaster.
The Executive Secretary said the agency had met with the officials of Hadejia Jamaare and other stakeholders on the issue of release of water during rainy seasons.
According to him, the agency has taken proactive measures to ensure that the 2018 fertilizer allocation surplus reached the flood victims.
