*Admits 3,657 students for the 2021/2022 session

The Vice Chancellor, Federal University Dutse, Professor Abdulkarim Mohammed has said the much talked about mentor-mentee system for young lecturers and students’ advisory system for students will soon commence.
Prof. Abdulkarim Mohammed stated this while speaking at the second media interactive session with the working journalists in Jigawa state held at the senate chamber, said the idea was conceived with a view to strengthen a closer relationship between the students and their lecturers, added that lecturers will serve as guardian of students throughout their stay in the university.
He stated further that the lecturers will not only put an eye on student`s academic performance but will as well monitor the social and emotional interactions of the student in order to guide them in the absence of their parents, describing the idea as common practice abroad.
The VC lamented the attitude of some lecturers who have the habit of closing their doors to students, noted that this attributed to lack of cordial relationship between the student and a lecturer. “Lecturers should serve as guardian or rather parent of each student, so as to make student feel comfortable or have a conducive atmosphere of learning.” He added.
The university according to Professsor Abdulkarim has offered admission to no fewer than 3,657 students for the 2021/2022 academic session, saying admission is currently in progress and will soon announce the date for the matriculation of the newly admitted students.
On the area of hostel accommodation, The VC stated that more accommodation for students especially female students is one of their key objectives, announced that, the university has awarded contract for the construction of 100 bed space female hostel already the contractor has mobilized to site over a month ago.
Said he:- “in addition to the renovation and expansion of facilities at the male and female hostels, we have provided more laundry, kitchen and extra conveniences in the hostels and very soon we will build a mega student hostels in the university.”
He assured that the shortage of student hostels bedeviling the university will soon be a history as by 2022 the university will be able to accommodate substantial number of its admitted students especially female. “Female students will no longer stay outside the campus”, Said VC FUD.
