The kidnapped traditional ruler of Wawa in Niger’s Borgu Local Government has been rescued, according to the Niger State Police Command.
The victim, Dr Mahmud Aliyu, was taken at his palace at 10 p.m. on Sunday by highly armed assailants.
DSP Wasiu Abiodun, the state’s police spokesperson, confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Saturday.
The royal father was rescued on Friday at 19:30 hours, according to Abiodun, after a persistent effort by the police, military, and vigilantes.
Aliyu is undergoing medical treatment at an undisclosed location. (NAN)
