Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni with the MD of North East Development Commission (NEDC), Mohammed G. Alkali have distributed certificates and starter packs to the graduands of the NEDC ICT training Programme in Damaturu as part of the post insurgency recovery efforts.
It could be recalled that in February 2021, the NEDC graduated 138 candidates, the second batch trained another set of 192 beneficiaries in the state therefore, the Commission has successfully graduated 330 beneficiaries altogether.
To further support the ICT training, each graduand was provided with free Starter Packs and N20,000 as start-up capital incentive apart from the N15,000 monthly stipends already being paid to each trainee for 2 months of their intensive training at Federal University Gashua.
The NEDC MD said that due to the importance of ICT empowerment and profound demand from the youths, the Commission will establish two additional centres in the State, thus, one in each of the other two Senatorial Districts” apart from the current centre at FUGA.
The Commission’s vision for ICT development is to see a prosperous 21st century North East Region with a robust ICT local content-driven industry that delivers Social and Economic Services in a manner that enhances safety, stimulates wealth creation and environmental sustainability for all.
In line with Buni’s directive, the Yobe State NEDC Focal Person/Co. Dr Ali Ibrahim Abbas will continue to collaborate with stakeholders and other relevant agencies in order to achieve the mandate of NEDC in Yobe State.
The Focal Person said Buni is working with NEDC to achieve Development, Peace and Prosperity in Yobe State and Northeast at large.
