Customers should not move their prepaid meters to new sites without the company’s permission, according to the Kaduna Electric and Distribution Company (KEDCO).
Customers who intend to migrate to a different home after purchasing a meter should tell the firm, according to Abdulazeez Abdullahi, the company’s Head of Corporate Communication.

He further said” the company shall take the responsibility of installing a new meter for the customer at the new property at no cost.
The complete statement is as follows: “The management of Kaduna Electric wishes to notify its valued customers that transferring energy meters from one site to another is not permitted.

Any customer moving to a new address, neighborhood, or community should just tell the Company, and a new meter will be assigned and installed at the new address”.
This step was taken to combat the threat of meter theft and illegal meter movement, which frequently results in customers being scammed, extorted or duped into purchasing a malfunctioning meter. It also affects the way we keep track of things.

Any meter found in a location other than where it was initially put is considered unlawfully compromised, and the customer is liable to NERC Regulations penalties.
