Major CL Datong, who was kidnapped last month when robbers stormed the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna, has been released.
As bandits storm into the NDA, officers are gunned slain and a major is kidnapped.

Colonel Ezindu Idimah, Deputy Director Army Public Relations 1 Division, Nigerian Army, said Datong was rescued by troops on Friday night.
Two senior officers were killed as a result of the incident, which occurred on August 24, 2021.

Datong was rescued by troops, according to Colonel Ezindu Idimah, Deputy Director Army Public Relations 1 Division, Nigerian Army.
“The forces arrived at a camp believed to be the detention center for Maj CL Datong. The army exchanged fire with the robbers at the camp, and the bandits were overwhelmed by superior fire.
“The valiant troops were able to save the kidnapped officer in the process. The officer, on the other hand, suffered a slight injury and was treated in a medical facility before being handed over to the NDA for further action,” he said.
He praised the NAF, DSS, Nigerian Police, and “patriotic Nigerians” for their essential assistance, which he said contributed to the operation’s success.
He stated that their operations will continue until the perpetrators who killed two (2) NDA officers are apprehended or neutralized.
