The Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly and Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y Suleiman has said that Nigeria must look back to the struggles and sacrifices made by our founding fathers in order to find solutions to many problems bedeviling the Country.
In a congratulatory message to the people of Bauchi State and the country at large to commemorate the 61 anniversary of Nigeria’s independence, the Speaker explained that our nationalists sacrificed their lives for the country, fought for our independence, and charted a promising development map for the country.
“However, along the line of our growth, the country is bedeviled with so many problems like civil war, ethnic and religious crises, insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping, which slowed down our growth and development.
“We must look back and reflect on the path the nationalists put our Country before and after the independence. We must imbibe their spirit of patriotism, selflessness, and sacrifice.
“We don’t have any country but Nigeria, therefore we must do everything possible to ensure it attains the highest level of development, stability, unity, and peace.” The Speaker advocates.
Speaker Abubakar Suleiman further stated that despite the challenges, Nigeria’s independence has brought a lot of blessings especially in infrastructural development, agriculture, human resources, economy, and many sectors of human endeavor.
He saluted the Executive Governor of Bauchi State His Excellency Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammad for the unprecedented transformation he embarked upon in the State which gives the State a new look.
He assured the people of the State that the Assembly will continue working hand in hand with the executive arm to take development to all nook and crannies.
