The Senate approved an amendment to the Electoral Act on Tuesday, which states that political parties will no longer use indirect primaries to select candidates for elections.
The Senate had previously approved a provision in the Electoral Bill that allowed parties to nominate candidates for elections during primaries using either direct or indirect primaries.
The Upper Chamber resolutions came after the Senate Leader, Senator Yahaya Abdullahi, sponsored a motion titled “Motion for recommittal” (Kebbi North).
