Ahead of the 26th fourth coming conference of parties on climate change, Conference of Parties (COP 26) in Glasgow Scotland, the Media and Civil Society Organizations has called on world leaders to increase climate finance to address loss of the rich biodiversity of Africa.
In a communique issued after a one-day meeting between Civil Society Organizations and Media, jointly signed by Rodiyat Shittu, and Shindong Bala, Journalists and Gloria Kasang Bulus from Civil Society organization bridge that gap Initiative/ Extinction Rebellion by extinction Rebellion with support from Bridge that Gap Initiative on Nature and biodiversity held in Kaduna.
Said “The main objective of the meeting is to bring together Media and Civil Society Organizations (CSO’s) to discuss on the loss of plant and animals’ species as a result of climate change.
The forum resolves as follows:
1.Stakeholders should actively engage media in sensitizing citizens on climate change issues.
2. Government at all levels should be sensitive in the plight of the citizens when developing laws and policies on climate issues.
3.Media should sustain its role in sensitization on Climate issues.
4.Healthy collaboration between the CSOs and Media on environmental actions should continue.
5. Government should support recycling companies in their drive to convert waste to wealth.
6. Government should invest in alternative source of energy.
