Government (SSG) has called for snergy between security agencies and states bedeviled by insecurity to curtail the insurgents.
Dr Mustapha Inuwa who spoke in Kano while declaring open a 2 day capacity building workshop organized by the Katsina State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists explained the critical element to curtail insecurity is synergy between state actors.
The SSG said the affected states should not operate differently without collaboration, adding that community and security agencies should complement each other to achieve desired objectives.
Dr. Mustapha Inuwa stated at the Capacity Building Workshop with the theme “Journalism in the midst of Insecurity” that for now synergy among security and government is lacking.
He noted that community on the other hand played vital roles in providing first hands information to the bandits in addition to supply of food, weapons and other items which help them to go about their barbaric acts.
His words:-“There is compelling need to involve the community, traditional rulers and other stakeholders if we want to do away with insecurity in our affected states”.
The SGS stated further that security is a collective effort as each and every individual has a role to play. “We have to wake up and restrategize in addressing the challenges with serious attention”. He stressed.
He further commend correspondent chapel for organizing the workshop and described it as timely and commendable, while assured them of government continue support to enable them discharge their civic responsibilities.
