There was a mix reactions and side talks among politicians on the absence of National Assembly members from Jigawa State at the official launching of the Disable Trust Fund.
Hotpen has exclusively gathered that none of the three Senators, that includes Sabo Nakudu, Danladi Sankara, and Ibrahim Hassan were seen at the gathering.
Similarly, all the 11 members of house of representatives also failed to show up, none sent representation to the August gathering which held at the Ahmadu Bello Hall, Dutse, Jigawa State.
One of the organizers of the event told Hotpen that an invitations was extended to each and every NASS Member but expressed shock and disappointment over their absence.
Although, the National Assembly is currently on Christmas and New Year break, it was not immediately clear why they distanced themselves from an event to elevate the life of the vulnerable members of the society.
Investigation has further revealed that, some of the Senators and Members House of Representatives from the state are busy distributing vehicles, motorcycles, cash and others ahead of 2023 election, but to offer their donation make it difficult for them.
Speaking at the occasions Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar said, the state government was committed towards improving the lives of disable persons.
He stressed that the Disability and Social Protection Councils was signed into law which culminated to the actualization of the Person With Disable Fund.
Badaru revealed that Jigawa has commenced Cash Transfer to over 5,000 selected pregnant women for enhancing their nutrition and encourage them to attend hospitals for antenatal and postnatal care.
Governor Badaru was represented by his Deputy, Umar Namadi, said Badaru promised to donate some part of his monthly salary for the remaining period in office, Other donations came from the members of the state executive council, State assembly, 27 Local government councils, NURTW and Labour Congress, NUJ, Correspondent’s Chapel among others donors.
The Chief launcher of the fund, Alhaji Haruna Maifata donated N2 million, Hon Tijjani Gaya donated N1 million among others.
