PVC’s Registration Should Be A Continuous Process – Cleric
By Abdullahi Alhassan, Kaduna.
HOTPEN – An Islamic Cleric, Mal. Ibrahim Aliyu Kaduna has advocated for the creation of a new agency to handle the registration of permanent voter’s cards in a continuous process in Nigeria.
This, according to the cleric, will solve the rigmarole and provided an opportunity for every Nigerian to register for the PVC and exercise his or her franchise during the election.
Speaking during a Friday sermon in Abuja, the Islamic cleric noted with dismay that half of the eligible citizens were de-franchised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The cleric opined that a citizen must register and participate in election exercises to vote for a credible candidate that will change the lives of the general populace for the better.
Lamenting the rising spate of insecurity in the country, the Sheikh re-echoed the dire need to look for a candidate that has the zeal, determination, and courage to end the scourge of banditry and other forms of insecurity bedeviling the country.
“All Nigerians should strive to participate in a system where credible leaders will emerge comes 2023”. He said this is the only way the current torrents of social, economic, and security-wise problems will be eradicated in our societies.
He appealed to the INEC to initiate a department in the commission and make the registration of permanent voter’s cards a permanent activity in the country just like National Identification Number (NIN).
