CITAD Lunches ICT Training for Children of Kano Remand Home

HOTPEN – A non-governmental organization, the Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has launched a six days of information and communication technology (ICT) and Entrepreneurship Skills Training for Children Of Kano State Remand Home.
The six-day training which started on Wednesday is aimed at nurturing information technology and entrepreneurship skills, creating desired social and economic outcomes by facilitating an innovative and technology-driven economy.
Engr. Yunusa Zakari Ya’u, Executive Director CITAD, represented by training coordinator Malam Ahmad Abdullahi Yakasai, said the training for children in remand homes in ICT skills is important to be at par with technological trends.
Mr. Yakasai said that the training, an initiative of CITAD, is meant to empower remand home children/inmates through investments in ICT infrastructure to enable them to live productive lives as well as give them a sense of inclusion in the IT ecosystem.
“CITAD is training different people with different backgrounds to build their capacities, make them employable and self-reliant to have effective economic independence in pursuing their livelihoods”
“This training will boost participants’ digital literacy and proficiency to efficiently participate in the fast-growing digital economy and entrepreneur ecosystem, ” he said.
While speaking, the honorable commissioner, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. Zahrau Muhammad Umar who was represented by Malam Muhammad Bala commend the initiatives towards developing remand home children/inmates.
“This investment is deeply appreciated by the State Government.”
He said CITAD will continuously be a partner to the Kano state Ministry of Women Affairs and Development and they must continue with this partnership to make Kano a better place.
On his part, the head, of Kano Remand Home, Malam Musa Idris Tarauni urged the participants to take their training seriously and make the best use of it to promote innovation and wealth for sustainable national growth and development.
Professor A.B Ahmad of Bayero University, Kano who is among the dignitaries commended the intervention of the CITAD in initiating the skills training program for the inmates and urged other non-governmental organizations to emulate the gesture.
