The Jigawa State and Local Governments Contributory Pension Scheme Board has commenced the payment of N783,734,328.06 million as a terminal benefit to 375 retirees.
The Executive Secretary of the Scheme, Alhaji Kamilu Aliyu Musa disclosed this while briefing newsmen in his office.
Alhaji Kamilu Aliyu explained that the amount paid to beneficiaries was for terminal pension to those who retired from service for the month of September, 2022.
According to him, the amount is being paid as a retirement benefit, death pension and death pension balance.
The Executive Secretary explained that the payment covered retirees from State, Local Government Councils’ service as well as from the Local Education Authorities (LEAs).
He said N121,224,194.93 was paid to 79 retirees as retirement benefit of civil servants who retired from State service, Local Government Councils (LGC) as well as those in Local Government Education Authority (LGEA).
He added that the death benefit of 32 persons from the State, 25 persons from the LGC and 15 persons from the LGEA made the total to be 72 and were paid N181,556,867.35.
He said a total of those on death pension balance are 23 in number and were given N18,355,107.14 as their benefit, saying 9 persons were from the State, 5 persons from the LGC and 9 persons from the LGEA among others.
According to the Pension Boss, Jigawa is up-to-date in the payment of entitlements to retirees which includes those who died in active service.
His words:- “The board and the State government will continue to ensure the welfare of its workers, for better service delivery and well-being of retirees after service”.
He commended Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar for the support and cooperation to the Scheme as at when due.
