HOTPEN– The war in Ukraine has continued to rage with its attendant evils and human travails. Ukrainian troops have claimed to have recaptured lost areas in Izyum. This seems to be a good omen to Ukraine troops, that may as well give them more courage and boosters to forge on.
The Russian air strikes had hit some strategic civilian dams triggering floods in many areas, that could be catastrophic.
Now the Russian gas hold up has created more of its demand globally, thus creating price spike, and more desperation as winter rapidly approaches in Europe. The European Union (EU) toys with the idea of gas price cap with its consequential repercussions on individuals and groups.
The EU energy crisis is now a big challenge to contend with among individual nations and the EU as a group. How would the Russian price cap work?- is another strong challenge to contend with by the already confused and desperate EU nations.
The exit of Queen Elizabeth Windsor Mary is a factor of both political and economic interests for both the EU and Russia, and by extension the entire globe. Will the new king Charles II play some vital roles to mitigate the Russian/Ukraine war.
By so doing, he has to combine diplomacy, decorum and wisdom. Any wrong approach from his side may as well complicate the already complicated imbroglio.
Olaf Schulz – the German Chancellor has already lamented the gas crises in Germany and its attendant social economic and political repercussions. Can Europe keep the heating on this winter? – most likely not, And can Europe find alternatives to the Russian energy? Most likely not.
Increasingly, Europe now seem to be fighting several wars at a time. The wild fires, a strong winter without gas, Trade Protectionism from China, security challenges, the Leftists agitations, climate challenges, Covid19 versus Monkey pox, China /Taiwan crisis and many more.
News have it that Putin has escaped assassination attempt recently and the sponsors are yet to be identified.
Putin has met China’s Xi Jinping recently on the sidelines of a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization that includes China, Russia, India, Pakistan and four other Central Asian nations. The outcome is so far sketchy.
Chinese support is very essential to Russia as China bought records levels of Russian oil in May, June and July. However, Beijing is obstinate to push too far, conscious of global monitoring.
It is now likely that the Kryvyi Rih dam missiles strike was an attempt to stop Ukrainian offensive in Kherson by flooding the Inhulet river and destroying the Ukrainian pontoons.
Zelenskyy had an accident in Kiev while in a motorcade recently, though no serious injury was reported but it has raised questions as to the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The world is watching every bit of the event, while the forces kept on spitting the fire power in bold bids to stress their superiority in all aspects of human endeavors, while the vulnerable nations kept on bearing the brunts.
