HOTPEN – Yobe State Government has built Primary Healthcare centers (PHC) for 138 wards of the 178 Political wards in the state. This is an effort by the state government to provide quality health care in Yobe state.
This was disclosed to newsmen during a press briefing by the State Commissioner of Health, Dr Muhammad Lawan Gana at the NUJ Secretariat in Damaturu.
Dr Gana demonstrated that to cushion the discomforts confronted by residents in assessing Federal Medical Centers (FMC) in neighbouring states like Bauchi and Gombe, the Buni-led administration elevated four major hospitals in the cities of Potiskum, Gashua, Geidam and Buni Yadi to specialist hospitals (YSSH).
The Commissioner added that the administration also raised the status of some Primary Healthcare Centers (PHC) to General Hospitals in some communities of the state. They include Machina, Malam Baba Nguru, Yunusari, Jajimaji, Babangida, Bara, Buni Gari and Yusufari.
Dr Gana noted that Governor Mai Mala Buni’s led administration has stood by its elections campaign vows by playing a very vital role in providing access to a good healthcare system to the good people of the state is not an uphill task.
