HOTPEN – The Member Representing Buji/Birnin Kudu Federal Constituency, Hon Engineer Magaji Da’u Aliyu has donated food items and other relief materials worth over N19 million to the victims of the recent flood disaster in his constituency.
Hotpen reports that no fewer than 100,000 people were displaced by the devastating flood in Jigawa state.
Speaking during the distribution exercise of the relief materials, Hon Magaji sympathized with the affected victims and urged them to accept the disaster as an act from God.
Hon. Da’u demonstrated that the adverse effect of the devastating flood is enormous, and the victims are in alarming need of assistance.
The Lawmaker noted that it is deemed necessary for him as a representative of his constituency to portray the moral responsibility upon him and any well-to-do person towards complementing the government efforts in providing relief materials to the affected victims.
He presented the food and relief materials to 9 district heads in the constituency for onward distribution to the victims in their respective areas.
The materials include 800 bags of 120kg Maize, cooking oil, rice, roofing sheets, nails and other relief materials.
He then told the victims that, the relief materials provided, were aimed at reducing the hardship they are facing but not to compensate for their losses.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to grant internal rest to over 130 people who lost their lives and also prevent future reoccurrences.
