HOTPEN – Jigawa state government has said about 4,500 farmers will benefit from the COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus Program (NG-CARES) across the 27 Local Government Areas of the state.
The statement was disclosed by the State Coordinator on Fadama III project, Aminu Isah Ringim during the flag-off of the community-based procurement training to farmers in Hadejia, Kazaure and Dutse Local Government Areas.
According to him, the programme is aimed at reducing the hardship they have gone through as a result of the covid-19 pandemic.
Isah Ringim further added that the NG-CARES programme is also aimed at boosting access to livelihood support, food security services and grants for poor and vulnerable households as well as firms.
He noted that the federal government and World Bank in collaboration with the Jigawa state government have budgeted about N18bn for the implementation of the programme in the state.
The Fadama Boss said under result area ll which is agriculture, about 17,000 farmers are predicted to benefit from the programme.
