HOTPEN – The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has on Tuesday released final list of candidates for the Kano State Governorship race with the name of Labour Party candidate, Bashir Ishaq Bashir missing on the list.
Bashir’s name was substituted with another name, Abdullahi Mohammed Raji.
The list which was placed at the Commission has also put to an end the controversy surrounding who is the genuine candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the state with Muhammad Abacha’s name missing while Sadiq Wali made the final list.
Recall that the former Head State, late General Sani Abacha’s son, Mohammed Abacha had claimed he was the genuine gubernatorial candidate of the party.
In a reaction yesterday, Bashir I Bashir said there was no cause for alarm, adding that INEC current list was not the final list.
Bashir expressed confidence that he would make it to the ballot by the time the electoral umpire published the final list.
He called on supporters to remain calm, adding “there is nothing to loose sleep over. INEC list is work in progress, and we are confident we will make the final list.”
