HOTPEN – The Member Representing Birnin-Kudu/Buji Federal Constituency, Hon. Magaji Da’u Aliyu has kicked against the privatization of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
He noted that, the process will not yield any positive impacts but rather throw some Nigerians into untold hardship.
Hon. Da’u who doubles as the Chairman house committee on power made the assertion over the weekend while fielding questions from newsmen in his home town, Birninkudu said, privatization cannot serve as a solution to the current epileptic power supply in the country.
According to him, due to its inadequate ability to supply power to its designated areas, the Distribution companies (DISCOs) which was once privatized by the government, was forced to be reclaimed in order to make it viable in term of power distribution across the country.
He further explained that, though he was not defending the PHCN for any reason, but it inherited obsolete equipment and old infrastructures from the former NEPA.
Commenting on recent flood disaster, the lawmaker noted that he supported thousands of his constituents affected with relief support and urged other international donors to support the victims.
