*Applauds SEMA

HOTPEN – An International organisation ActionAid Nigeria in conjunction with Baba Azimi foundation, supported by STARTFUND has supported 3 LGA’s in Jigawa state affected by this year’s flood with the sum of N82 million.
Hotpen reports that, the worst affected flooding LGAs in Jigawa state include Gwiwa, Kaugama, and Miga respectively and over 1,200 households benefitted from the Intervention in both food and non-food items.
The Logistics Adviser of the NGO, Mr. Goodluck Omoh has disclosed, saying the breakdown of the expenses covers N58m on the provision of foodstuffs, and non-food items comprised of a package of Mosquito nets, blankets, mats, 6 yards of women’s wrappers, 6 bars of washing soap,3 sets of plastic cups, among Other’s, in addition to cash donations of N20,000 to every one of the 158 beneficiaries of Sabara Community in Miga local government area.
According to him, a similar gesture was performed in the remaining two LGAs of Gwiwa and Kaugama depending on the number of their beneficiaries, while N20m was the total cash donations on the ratio of N20,000 to each of the 1,000 communities in three LGAs namely Gwiwa, Kaugama, and Miga councils.
According to him: “Our commitments to Jigawa state was in line with our cardinal objectives in rendering humanitarian support to victims of war, flood, among other natural disasters affecting human lives in different countries of the world”.
Actionaid is an International Organization with headquarters in Johannesburg, South Africa covering over forty-six nations in the world, with offices in London, America, Greece, Italy, India and Brazil, among others.
While Baba Azimi foundation is an NGO operating in Jigawa state for several years, it has excelled in providing humanitarian services and philanthropist gesture to the needy in the state.
The donors also commended the efforts of Jigawa State Emergence Management Agency (SEMA) for given them all the necessary support as well as their understanding in making their donations to the victims hitch free, describing the agency as partner in progress.
