HOTPEN – In his efforts to effectively police Kano state, the newly posted Commissioner of Police to Kano state, CP Mamman Dauda has revealed that the command has mapped out strategies that are based on deepening the implementation of Community Policing to the grass root level towards addressing ethical and professional issues that impacts on trust between the police and the public.
CP Mamman Dauda disclosed this during an interactive session with officers and Members of the Press at the Police Officers Mess, Bompai, Kano on Monday.
The Commissioner added that, in order to achieve the missions and visions of the command, they will partner with other security agencies in the state and other critical stakeholders to include: traditional rulers, religious leaders, CSOs, Members of the Police Community Relations Committee, NGOs, The Media, Human Rights Groups and others.
“Use of technologies in operations and investigations, intelligence-led policing as well as visibility policing, strengthening the communication unit of the command, synergy with sister security agencies and community policing stakeholders, sustaining Operation Restore Peace, Public enlightenment and sensitization via the media will form the basis for our anti-crime action plan”
“We will continue to engage Officers and Men of the command in regular seminars, workshops, training and re-training, especially in the areas of administration, operations and investigations to meet the demands of the dynamic society” CP Dauda added.
The commissioner further explained that as the heat of the 2023 general elections is increasing, the command will continue to engage political party leaders to ensure a peaceful electioneering process.
“As you can see we have received 100 pieces of telephone lines from a combined team of AMG Foundation, YOSPIS and CHR led by Dr Aminu Magashi which will be deployed to the 78 police divisions, 11 area commands and other special police units to support security as well as to be used to solicit for assistance from the public with vital information before, during and even after the elections” he noted.
CP Mamman Dauda however, charged officers and men of the command to strictly adhere to provisions of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, The Police Act, and Respect of Fulfillment Rights in line with International Best Practices to ensure that police in Kano Command perform professionally towards effective and efficient service delivery to citizens of Kano state.
In his remarks, the Kano state Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Abbas Ibrahim welcomed the new CP on behalf of journalists in Kano state and gave his assurances of continuous maximum support and cooperation in ensuring a crime-free kano state is achieved. He further requested for strengthening of trust between the media and police from the CP.
On his own part the CEO of AMG Foundation, Dr Aminu Magashi while welcoming the new CP and stressing his commitment to work in synergy with the command, explained that,
“The 100 telephone lines donated to the command are connected to the Caller User Group (CUG) which allows the callers within the 100 lines to communicate freely for 10 hours in a month and the subscription for 1 year has been settled by the foundation to allow effective communication towards achieving efficient service delivery to citizens of the state.”
Prime Time reports that other events at the interactive session include the presentation of a commendation letter from the Governor of Kano state, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to ACP Daniel Amah for rejecting a bribe of 200,000 dollars.
