HOTPEN – The Zamfara state anti thuggery special committee has arrested 16 PDP political thugs as part of the committee’s efforts to curtail political thuggery, drugs abuse and other related criminality across the state.
The state chairman of the committee, Bello Mohammed Bakyasuwa stated this while parading the suspects in Gusau Monday.
According to him, the suspected political thugs were apprehended by his team during a political rally organized by the Zamfara state PDP governorship candidate Dr. Dauda Lawal Dare on Sunday in Gusau the state capital.
Bakyasuwa stated that the thugs were sponsored by one of the PDP Chairman of Tsafe local government area of the state Hon. Garewa Tofa during the rally.
According to him, exhibits recovered from them includes cutlasses, locally made pistol, narcotic substances and political campaign van.
Bakyasuwa appealed to political parties and politicians to stop sponsoring youths in thuggery during electioneering campaign for peaceful coexistence in the state.
He warned that his committee will not condone any forms of thuggery that could destabilize peace in the state.
“Our team will work tirelessly to ensure that all forms of thuggery, drugs abuse and other related political instability have been contain in the state among youths and their co-sponsors” He said.
