Traditional and religious leaders in Daura senatorial District of Katsina state have assured their support for the APC Gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Dikko Umar Radda.
The leaders gave the assurance while receiving the candidate and his entourage who are on a state wide campaign tour.
This was contained in a statement that was signed and issued to HOTPEN by Adamu S. Ladan, Member of Media and Publicity Committee, APC Campaign Council, Katsina State.
According to Malam Ladan, The candidate visited the traditional rulers along with the religious leaders in every ward as part of the campaign tour itinerary.
He explained that while receiving the candidate in their Palaces with a rousing welcome, the traditional rulers who assembled along with their imams described his visits as home coming.
Dr. Radda an immediate past Director General of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency, (SMEDAN) was a descendant of late emir of Katsina, Muhammadu Dikko.
The traditional leaders who spoke glowingly of the candidate’s pedigree expressed confidence in his capacity to lead the state to prosperity.
They however enumerated some achievements recorded in their domains by the APC administration of Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari and therefore urged the candidate not to relent in pursuing the laudable programmes of the administration.
Addressing the community leaders in their Palaces, amidst mammoth crowds, Dr. Radda said if elected he will review and propose for a legal framework that would streamline the role of the traditional institution to be in tune with prevailing democratic dispensation.
This he particularly said, is necessary in view of their role in dispute mediation, conflict resolution, enhancing community or national identity and providing an institutional safety where state bureaucracies are usually inadequate.
Dr. Radda also pointed out that his administration would want see the traditional rulers serve as platform of ensuring projects sited in their domain are properly executed and protected.
On religious institution the candidate said he intends to bring a policy that would promote religious values aimed at attainment of social justice, economic prosperity and political balance in the state.
He stressed that the administration he would lead will ensure the engagement of religious education and social action in the promotion of peace-making and conflict prevention as well as resolution in Katsina state.
The policy he further explained would enlist the support of organized religious groups for the advancement of the principles of cooperation and collaboration to bring development in the state.
Adamu Ladan notes that, as at this Friday, the candidate and his entourage have visited nine out of the twelve local government areas in the zone. These are; Baure, Zango, Maiduwa, Sandamu, Daura, Mashi, Dutsi, Mani, Bindawa and Ingawa.
“The remaining two local governments to be visited include; Kusada and Kankia” He added.
HOTPEN reports that, Dr. Radda’s entourage includes, the APC Deputy Gubernatorial candidate, Hon Faruk Jobe, the campaign council led by the Director General, Arc. Ahmad Musa Dangiwa, members of the state executive council, state and federal legislators, local government chairmen, candidate of various positions and party faithful among others.
