The State House of Assembly has received a Private Member Bill in it’s plenary session today which was presided over by the Speaker, Rt Hon Engineer Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari.
The Private Member Bill was jointly presented to the House by Hon Pharmacist Magaji Dahiru Zarewa, Deputy Majority Leader and Member representing Rogo Constituency, and Hon. Comrade Musa Ali Kachako, Member representing Takai Constituency.
The Bill which is on Free maternal and Child care was read before the House in the floor of the Chamber
After deliberations the bill was laid before the House and it was later committed to the House for further Legislative actions
Deputy Majority Leader Hon. Pharmacist Magaji Dahiru Zarewa further said when pass into law it will address the rampant cases of child mortality and would take care of pregnant women from conception to delivery
While Fielding questions to journalists in an interview Dr Ibrahim Zikirullah who is the Executive Director of Resource center for Human Right and Civic Education said such private member bill is really a welcome development as when pass into law would surely assist a lot in reducing child mortality as well as free maternal services from antenatal to postnatal levels
He applauded the Members who presented the Bill to the House as well as the Members of the House for their tolerance, understanding and foresight in making relevant Laws for the betterment of the people of the State, adding that the bill would addresss the impending cases of mortality among pregnant women.
He appealed to the Members to expedite actions for a speedy passage of the Bill for the overall development of the State.
Dr Zukirullah Ibrahim said the Pregnant women and children are currently receiving free medical care under the executive order of the State, pointing out that such move would no doubt help a lot in savings the lives of the Children in the State whom are regarded as leaders of tommorow.
