The G-50 Initiative, a non-governmental organisation, has sponsored the enrollment of 12 indigent persons in the Gombe State Contributory Healthcare scheme.
The G-50 is a Gombe-based organisation formed by about 50 medical laboratory scientists.
The spokesman of the group, Mr Ocacha Abdulrazaq stated this during the enrollment exercise in Gombe on Friday.
He said the organisation was working to touch the lives of the less privileged in the society.
“The introduction of the Contributory Healthcare scheme in Gombe State is an avenue for us to touch the lives of less privileged by sponsoring their enrollment.
“This is a pilot project, we are going to enroll 12 persons in the non-formal sector of the scheme which is renewable annually,” he said.
He lauded Gov. Inuwa Yahaya for the initiative, adding that it has direct bearing on the lives of the people.
“This is one project that we should appreciate the governor for bringing on board.
“Because the less privilege can now enjoy quality and affordable healthcare services. Many have lost their lives due to their inability to access healthcare services,” he said.
He urged individuals and organisations to emulate the gesture to mobilise participation in the programme.
One of the beneficiaries, Ms Deborah Douglas commended the gesture, adding it would enhance access to quality healthcare services, especially for the less privileges.
