The JIgawa state chapter of the Inter Party Advisory Council of Nigeria (IPAC) has called on the JIgawa State Independent Electoral Commission (JISIEC) to conducts bye election of late councillor at Gumel local council.
This was disclosed by the Inter Party Advisory Council of Nigeria (IPAC), chairman, Comrade Murtala Musa Galamawa while briefing news men at it secretariat in Dutse, JIgawa state capital.
The chairman expressed dismay over the JIgawa State Independent Electoral Commission (JISEC) for it’s failure to organize and conduct the bye election on a councillor died in Gumel local government councils.
Comrade Murtala Musa Galamawa expressed disappointed on the way the JISIEC’s disgraced the members of the council for calling them to a stakeholders meeting in preparation for the bye election but they (IPAC) members) were abandoned and left stranded no body at the venue and time of the meeting.
The IPAC chairman accused the state’s election level of lackadaisical attitude and lack of commitment in conducting their constitutional duty for preparing and conduct of all elections in the local council in the state.
According to him “Gentlemen of the press we called you at this time to expressed our dismay on the disgraced and embarrassment we received from JISIEC this afternoon”.
“The JISEC formerly invited us for a meeting on the plans and preparations for the conducts of a bye election on Gusau political ward in Gumel local government areas where the former councillor died some times early January”.
“It is a welcome development, with pleasure and courage 14 of us out of 18 members political parties here in JIgawa state. We arrived in good time. Though we found no body in the venue including the host of the meeting, it is sufferising but we waited for hours nobody from JISIEC up to the time we tired and left”.
“This is very disappointing, it is embarrassing, it is unfortunate, we are not happy and we most expressed it here”.
The IPAC called on the JISIEC to be serious, dedicated, commuted and sincere on their constitutional duty.
He also called on the governor of the state, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar of the state to investigate the commission and force of agency to carried out their duties and conduct of the Gusau ward bye election without further delay.
