Dr. Babangida Hussaini, a retired Federal Permanent Secretary has been declared winner in the just concluded 2023 general elections to represent people of Jigawa North-west in the 10th senate.
Alh. Babangida Hussaini, who doubles as Walin Kazaure floors Sen. Saminu Turaki to won the election as Senator in the just concluded elections.
Saminu Turaki, a two term Jigawa state governor and one term Senator of Jigawa North-West suffered defeat from one of his subordinates, Babangida Hussaini having scored highest votes of 187,049 against 134,199.
Hotpen reports that, the former governor, Turaki contested under the platform of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
while Hussaini contested under the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the 2023 senatorial elections.
Turaki who served as senator representing Jigawa North West shortly after his two term governor of Jigawa state, the tenure many described as a total failure and disappointment as there was nothing to write home about in the 4 year tenure which span from (2007-2011).
Investigation has revealed that lackadaisical attitude, poor representation, and absence of projects in the senatorial district have been one of the factors worked against Turaki’s failure as well as contributed to Babangida’s success in the poll.
However, the unbeatable record of achievements coupled with his generosity and service to humanity worked in favor of Babangida Hussaini to emerge victorious in the 2023 senatorial contest.
Babangida who served as Director of council affairs, Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Permanent Secretary of Basic Education and Executive Secretary of the Scholarship Board with the Jigawa state government has been described as a man with a track record of Spartan discipline.
Hussaini giant strides and record of achievements in civil service earned him recognition to secure a federal appointment, as Deputy Director and later Director, and worked with various ministries.
He was later elevated to the rank of Permanent Secretary and posted to the ministry of defense and later transferred back to the ministry of works and housing where he retired in February 2022.
During his tenure as Director of Special Projects and Permanent secretary at the Ministry of Works and Housing, he initiated various projects across Jigawa state and beyond which included the provision of transformers, street lights, feeder roads, township roads, solar boreholes, provision of ambulances and hospital equipment to mention but a few.
There is no doubt, that Hussaini can be described as an architect behind the dualization of the Kano-Kazaure-Daura- Kwagalam road, and Kano-Gumel, among several others.
Having been satisfied with these laudable programs and policies initiated by Babangida Hussaini, people across walks of life trooped to his residence shortly after he retired and seek for his support and cooperation to join active politics for continuity.
Babangida later consulted his family, friends, and associates for their advice, blessing, and special prayers for a successful journey.
With the emergence of Hussaini as the duly elected Senator representing Jigawa North West is a blessing to the constituents and the state at large with all his track record of achievements and antecedent he will bring the much needed development to his senatorial district.
