No fewer than 14 Kano state house of assembly elections were inconclusive and to go into supplementary elections based on results so far released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
This was coming on the heels that the electoral umpire body has on Wednesday issued certificate of return to 26 member-elects out of the 40 constituencies that make up the house of assembly in the state.
The New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP has cleared 21 out of the 26 election results so far declared while the APC were left with the remaining 5.
LG/Constituencies won by the NNPP include, Albasu, Bebeji, Bunkure, Dala, Dawakin Kudu, Gwale, Kano Municipal, Karaye, Kibiya, Kiru and Kumbotso.
Others include, Kura/Garun Mallam, Madobi, Minjibir, Nasarawa, Rano, Rogo, Rimingado/Tofa, Sumaila, Tarauni and Fagge.
Meanwhile, the five won by the APC were namely, Bichi, Doguwa, Shanono/Bagwai, Tsanyawa/Kunchi and Kabo.
In a telephone interview with Vanguard, the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Prof. Abdu Zango said the commission will conduct supplementary election in the 14 state house of assembly constituencies.
“In Kano, INEC will conduct 16 supplementary elections. Two in Federal Constituencies while 14 will be in the state constituencies. And April 15th, 2023 has been slated for the elections,” Prof. Zango however stated.
