Bauchi State Government says it has already adopted the 30,000 Naira national minimum wage for the state workers as part of it’s policy of establishing worker friendly Government.
Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammed who announced this while addressing workers on the occasion of the annual workers day celebration at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi further maintained that his administration sees to the payment of statutory contribution on Employees Compensation Scheme, ECS. The ECS, he said is designed to provide compensation for workers in the event of injuries or death in the course of discharging official work.
Represented by the Head of Service, Yahuza Adamu Haruna, he said from inception, the Bauchi State Government has sanitised the state payroll of workers by eliminating the ghost workers syndrome, blocked leakages as well as fraudulent activities that hitherto soiled the system.
He stressed his resolve to rejuvenate the civil service to stimulate productivity adding that so far the health care contributory scheme has been approved for the state.
Further more Governor Bala Abdulkadir revealed that plans are on going towards payment of outstanding pensions and gratuities for retirees. He assured that approval has been given to make replacements in vacant positions created by death and retirements.
He solicited for cooperation of workers towards implementing all programs aimed at uplifting the quality of life for people in the state.
Earlier speaking the Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress Comrade Dauda Shuaibu commended Governor Bala Muhammed for implementing the new salary structure as well as the regular promotions of deserving officers in the civil service.
