The General Manager Gombe State Agency for Community and Social Development, (CSDA) Mallam Haruna Imam has commended Gov. Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State for the prompt release of funds for the execution of the NG-CARES programme in the state.
This is contained in a press statement signed by Mrs Comfort Mukollo Public Relations Officer CSDA and made available to newsmen in Gombe yesterday.
Imam gave the commendation during the community and Group project launch and presentation of the first tranche of cheques to 30 communities and women groups across the state.
He said already, the state was in the second phase of the programme a development he attributed to Yahaya’s support to the CSDA and other NG-CARES platforms of the state to implement their activities.
Imam said work had begun in all the communities in their various areas of needs which include primary health care centres, classroom blocks, boreholes and nutrition interventions.
Mukollo said during the programme launch, the Gombe State Coordinator Cares Unit Mr. Michael Habila explained that Nigeria’s COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) programme was a federal government intervention.
Habila said the programme was supported by the World Bank to cushion the effect of COVID-19 on the poor and vulnerable, which the state further domesticated the programme to Gombe State COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus(GO-CARES).
