In effort to Bichi local government has replicated Community Action and Response Team (CART) across seventeen communities in the local government. This because of the success achieved by similar structure in Bichi and Danzabuwa community.
The head of Special Service Unit (SSU) Mal Usman Usman Muhammad on behalf of the local government council explained that ActionAid Nigeria in partnership Dispute Resolution and Development Initiative (DRDI) through System Structure Strengthening Approach Against Radicalisation to Violent Extremism (SARVE III) have demonstrated coordinated response and security mechanism to avert conflict and violent in their communities.
“We have replicated CART in that cluster because of incessant farmers and herdsmen conflicts that have bedevilled the area for long. We hoped that replicating the structure in the community would mitigate the problem and bring lasting peace and economic development in the area”.
On his part, the chairman of Local Conflict Management Alliance (LOCMA) Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Muhammad popularly known as Fitilar Bichi appreciated the support provided by ActionAid being that security is the key priority in human life. “Without security there will be no progress and ultimately there will be no human development. Therefore, we are soliciting ActionAid Nigeria again to support training of 153 constituted CART in the seventeen communities to build their capacity to enable them deliver on their task effectively”.
System and Structure Strengthening Approach against Radicalization to Violent Extremism (SARVE III) is implemented in Kano State with aims to support government’s efforts in promoting peaceful coexistence and building social cohesion among 12 identified communities and vulnerable groups across 6 Local Government Areas (Gwale, Nasarawa, Bichi, Tudun Wada, Gwarzo and Bebeji) in Kano state.
