The Kano State Government, led by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has taken a momentous stride in its dedication to education by officially inaugurating the 2023 National Examination Council (NECO) in the state.
The governor ceremoniously declared the commencement of the examinations at Rumfa College, where final year Senior Secondary School Students in Kano gathered in anticipation of this crucial milestone in their academic journey.
Deputy Comr. Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, representing Governor Abba, underscored the significance of this event, emphasizing that education is the bedrock of progress for any nation across the globe.
In a statement delivered to the press by Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, it was revealed that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf emphasized the government’s view of investing in the education sector as a vital step towards nurturing the future leaders of tomorrow.
Governor Abba further disclosed that the Kano State Government has allocated over N1.5 billion to cover examination fees for more than 57,000 students enrolled in Secondary Schools, Technical Schools, and Islamic/Arabic Secondary Schools throughout the state.
Furthermore, the governor urged the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) to collaborate closely with schools in their respective wards to monitor the progress of their children and provide them with the necessary motivation to achieve remarkable results.
Governor Abba reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the advancement of education in Kano and appealed for the cooperation of the citizens in elevating the educational standards from primary to secondary levels.
Umar Haruna Doguwa, the State Commissioner for Education, announced that the Ministry of Education has established committees to assess closed boarding schools in the state with the objective of reopening them. He lauded the state government for enhancing the feeding programs in boarding schools and assured the provision of furniture for schools in the near future.
Expressing gratitude during the vote of thanks, Hamisu Muhammad Gwagwarwa, Acting Executive Secretary of the Kano State Senior Secondary Schools Management Board (KSSSSMB), acknowledged the Kano State Government, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, and Deputy Comr. Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo for their resolute commitment to the educational sector.
He pledged full support in actualizing the government’s vision of elevating education in Kano to unprecedented heights.
Prominent figures present at the flag-off ceremony included Umar Haruna Doguwa, Director of Recruitment & Training at KSSSSMB, Baban Gida Abdulrahman Sambauna, Zonal Director of the Municipal Zonal Directorate, and a host of parents who eagerly participated in this significant event.
