In what appeared to be an insult and disgrace, the Department of State Service DSS, operative manhandled a senior Prison Official, who was in court to enforce an order of court remanding suspended Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mr Godwin Emefiele in custody.
The remand order is for Emefiele to perfect the bail conditions imposed on him by the Federal High Court, Lagos.
Justice Nicolas Oweibo, had following Emefiele’s arraignment on a two count charge of illegal possession of firearms brought against him by the EFCC, granted him bail in the sum of N20million and a surety in like sum.
Recall also that Emefiele’s lead counsel, Mr. Joseph Daudu, SAN, had alerted of plot by the DSS to re-arrest Emefiele despite the order of court.
Hotpen reports that, Justice Oweibo had following Daudu’s complaint, summoned the leader of the DSS team and it was gathered that he told the court that he was instructed to protest Emefiele.
But soon after the court rose and as a top prison officer lead his team to take Emefiele to prison custody as ordered by the court, he was violently manhandled by hooded DSS operatives.
The DSS operatives also charged at newsmen and lawyers in the court, drawing condemnation from onlookers.
