Disturbed by the devastating situation at general hospital Gumel, Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi has approved the immediate redeployment of Chief
Medical Director, Director Admin and Finance and 4 others to Ministry of Health.
A statement from the Government House Media Office, others affected include Director Clinical Services, H.O.D Pharmacy, H.O.D Laboratory and Accountant, they were redeployed for alleged incompetence and negligence on duty.
The development was sequel to the unscheduled visit paid to Gumel general hospital over the weekend, Namadi who was furious by the unfavorable condition and other worst cases affecting health care delivery said his government will not condone lackadaisical attitudes capable of destroying health sector.
Governor Namadi explained that whoever found involved in sabotaging government efforts towards improvement health care delivery will face the full wrath of the law for alleged incompetence and negligence on duty.
Other disciplinary action taken by the governor include dissolving of management board of the hospital, while the affected directors and other HOD should immediately report to the state ministry of health.
Hotpen reports that, among the annoying things and worst situation observed by the governor during the unscheduled visit include how patients are been forced to pay money for the free healthcare service provided by the government.
The governor equally interview some patients, where they told him that they are been forced to pay N7,000 for blood transfusion, pregnant women purchases drugs and other delivery kits provided free by the government.
Lactation mother’s and under 5 children who enjoyed free medical services in the state complained bitterly as they have to procure drugs and others which according to the governor has violated government’s kind gesture.
Also observed by Governor Namadi, Gumel general hospital also lacks safe and hygiene drinking water despite monthly diesel fund allocated to all health institutions in the state, the commissioner of health has been directed to take over the case and treat it with fairness and justice.
