A renowned Islamic Scholar, Dr. Aminu Baba Waziri has said child breastfeeding is the best option in Islam, citing Qur’anic verses enjoyed and ordered parents to breastfeed their children with no option except under critical health challenges.
Dr. Aminu Waziri dropped the hints
while delivering a lecture at an occasion for the celebration of world breastfeeding day, held at Manpower Development Institute, Dutse, Jigawa state capital.
The Islamic Cleric explained that, several verses in the holy Qur’an discussed on child breastfeeding, described it as the must pleasant, clean, hygienic and safest food for all infants.
He further stated that, the exclusive breastfeeding advocate by health professionals has no any contradiction with the holy book, called on parents to abide by the medical and islamic advices in breastfeeding their children.
Speaking during the occasion , the Jigawa state first lady and wife of the state governor Hajia Hadiza Umar Namadii charged mother’s to listing an abide by cultural, spiritual and professional guidance in breastfeeding their children as generally agreed on no second alternative to it.
She than called on the state government to consider the implementation of six month maternity leave to working mother’s for strengthen the practice of exclusive breastfeeding in the state.
Also speaking at the occasion, Permanent Secretary and Executive Secretary of the Agency Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim said exclusive breastfeeding prevent children from many ailments and diseases.
Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim added that, the child exclusively breastfeed grow more healthier, with strong immunity, sharp brain, and more portentiale to become productive in the society.
