
…….Set to empowers 2,500 young entrepreneurs and SME’s

Determined to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy, Jigawa state government will soon commence the distribution of 10 trucks of rice across the existing 287 wards in the 27 local government area of the state.
The state Commissioner of Information, Youth, Sport and Culture, Honorable Sagir Musa Ahmed, disclosed this shortly after the second Executive council meeting lasted for 12 hours held at Government House Dutse, said federal government has donated 5 trucks of rice through State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) for onward distribution across the 27 LGA’s of the state.
Hon. Sagir Musa explained that to complement FG effort, the state government deemed it necessary to add it’s support as such it has ordered for the immediate purchase of additional 5 trucks for distribution. “The total number of trucks stood at 10, FG offered 5 trucks while state government donated 5 additional trucks and will be shared among the 27 LGA’S.
“The palliative is part of Federal government led President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and Jigawa State Government led Mal. Umar Namadi to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal that cause hike in the increase of prices of foods items and other commodities”. He added.
According to the commissioner, the fund earmarked for the purchase of additional 5 Trucks of rice will cost the sum of One Hundred and Thirty-Four Million Six Hundred and Sixty-Five Thousand Naira (N134,665,000.00) to cover more beneficiaries statewide.
In a related development, council in session has considered and approved empowerment programme for 1,500 Young Entrepreneurs running existing businesses across 27 LGAs in their respective communities through the Ministry of Information, Youth, Sport and Culture in collaboration with the Directorate of Economic Empowerment.
Hon. Sagir Musa stated further that, council has equally approved the support of 1,000 Small and Medium Enterprises (SME’s) under J-Cares Programme with N100,000 for those who made World Bank criteria of being a Registered SME’s, Account and Bank Verification Number (BVN) and No. of Employees.
