ActionAid Nigeria and DAG organized a five days workshop for Farmers and Headers in Bichi and Danzabuwa all in Bichi Local government Kano state for tackling menace of conflict occurs mostly during two Groups clashes.
Dr.Mustapha Muhammad who was the state coordinator of Dispute Resolutions knows as (DRDI) in Kano said the programs was organized in Bichi Local Government in Kano state to curtail and replicated Community Action and Response Team (CART) across seventeen communities in the said local government as part of efforts to strengthen security and early warning in the identified communities.
Dr. Mustapha added that most of this problems replication is tied to the success achieved if the trainees have applied what they will learned in this training workshop.
“We have understand that Bichi and Danzabuwa are facing this kind of challenges of Header’s and Farmers, so it’s part of our efforts in DAG and ActionAid Nigeria to sensitize community the way of solving the crises.”
In his speech the head of Special Service Unit (SSU) Mal. Usman Usman Muhammad on behalf of the local government chairman explained that ActionAid Nigeria in partnership of Dispute Resolution and Development Initiative (DRDI) through System Structure Strengthening Approach Against Radicalisation to Violent Extremism (SARVE III) have demonstrated coordinated response and security mechanism to avert conflict and violent in their communities.
In his remark the Co-odinator of ActionAid Nigeria in Kaduna and Kano respectively Mr Aliyu Adamu said they have replicated CART in that cluster because of incessant farmers and herdsmen conflicts that have bedevilled the area for long.
Aliyu Adamu hoped that replicating the structure in the community would mitigate the problem and bring lasting peace and economic development in the area
In their response some of the participants during the opening of the workshop thanking the will of ActionAid Nigeria and DAG for given the opportunity to maintain their peace system in their respective communities.
They also said with out peace and security there will be no progress and ultimately there will be no human development.
Therefore the participants added that they are soliciting ActionAid Nigeria and DAG again for supporting training of 150 constituted CART in the seventeen communities of Bichi local government to build their capacity to enable them deliver on their task effectively.
HotPen report that the System and Structure Strengthening Approach against Radicalization to Violent Extremism under (SARVE III) is implemented in Kano State with aim to support government’s efforts in promoting peaceful coexistence and building social cohesion among 12 identified communities and vulnerable groups across 6 Local Government Areas (Gwale, Nasarawa, Bichi, Tudun Wada, Gwarzo and Bebeji) in Kano state.
