Kano State government has reiterated its commitment to strengthen the existing cordial relationship with media organizations in the state.
The state Commissioner of Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye stated this during an interactive meeting with Kano State Heads of Media Organizations Forum in his office.
The Commissioner said the idea behind the interactive meeting was to chart a new course and strengthen the existing cordial relationship between media and the government.
Dantiye maintained that media remains a very critical stakeholder in achieving good governance, urged them to focus on positive things for the betterment of the people in the state.
He promised to involve all media organizations in the state in capacity building training considering their roles in creating job opportunities for our teeming youth which helps in reducing the menace of unemployment.
The Commissioner assured them that the interactive meeting will be a continuous one to build a stronger line of communication with the media organizations in the state.
In his remarks, the Chairman, Kano State Heads of Media Organizations Forum, Prince Daniel Aboki, urged the government to work with all media organizations in the state for a wider publicity of government policies and programmes.
The Chairman solicited the support of the government by sponsoring their members to attend world summit and world journalists conferences as well as assisting them to access grant from the international foundation such as MacArthur who supports journalists and media organizations.
Aboki commended the Commissioner for convening the meeting and promised to remain committed to the progress through factual and objective reportage of events and government’s programmes.
