Katsina State Government has approved the release of whooping sum of N1.8 billion to the 34 local government councils for the execution of developmental projects that have a direct bearing on the lives of the people in the state.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prof Badamasi Lawal disclosed this while receiving the Directors of Work forum on a courtesy visit to his office, Monday.
He assured the Directors of the commitment of the present administration to their worrisome plight, urging them to rededicate themselves to serve and ensure that the people reap the dividends of democracy.
The Commissioner said very soon the funds will be disbursed to enable them commence work on initiated projects, adding that, such projects must be monitored, supervised, and delivered timely to enable the people reap its benefits.
He advised them to be prudent and ensure accountability in all their dealings, as any council found wanting would have itself to blame.
Alhaji Shehu Mamuda, the Forum’s Chairman, earlier, told the Commissioner that they were in his office to congratulate him on his new appointment, describing it as well deserved.
Mamuda said as the governor and the commissioner were former Local Government Council Chairman, they are not new to happenings at that level of government, assuring the present administration of their support to government policies and programmes to achieve desired goals in the state.
