The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Zamfara State Command under the watch of Commandant Sani Mustapha has advocated for a peaceful coexistence amongst citizens, all and sundry in the state.
The security consummate stated this at a one day Peace Talk with stakeholders in the state organized by the command to commemorate the 2023 International World Peace Day in Gusau Zamfara State.
According to him, no meaningful development can be achieved in a chaotic atmosphere, he reiterated that for the state to move forward, everyone must be at peace with one another.
Commandant Sani Mustapha however charged the stakeholders especially the religious leaders and youth to imbibe the culture of peace as the world celebrates this year’s International Day of Peace with the theme: Action for Peace: Our Ambition for the Global Goals.
The lead paper presenter in the event, Professor Lawal Mayanchi, Dean School of postgraduate studies, Federal University Gusau, enumerated the gains the society stands achieve if peace is given the center stage.
The University Don educated the participants about the roles of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in the pursuit of Peace using civility and Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanism to ensure that the masses are coexist together in peace.
He emphatically reiterated that NSCDC is saddled with the responsibility of arresting offenders with or without warrants .
The University Don acknowledged the various programs of the Corps as instituted by the Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni OFR especially the Agro Rangers unit and the Safe School initiative which are geared towards ensuring a peaceful atmosphere for farming and learning respectively.
Others who spoke are the clerics and the Emir of Bungudu, Alh. Hassan Attahiru MFR, Emir of Talata Mafara, Dr. Bello Mohd Barmo MFR, Emir of Kaura Namoda, Major Sanusi Ahmed Mohd Asha and the Emir of Gusau, Dr Ibrahim Bello MFR sarki Katsina Gusau.
Shiekh Umar Kanoma who shades light on the Islamic perspective of peace enjoined all and sundry to embrace dialogue and peace in other to curb the spat of insecurity in the state.
Also, the Very Rev. Daniel Chibuzor of the Wesley Methodist Church Gusau, averred that everyone must exercise the spirit of love for peace to reign.
Notable among other speakers are the Scout Commissioner of the State, Mr Mukhtar Bushasha and the Chairman Nigeria Bar Association, Barr. Muazu Shehu Ahmad.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Staff to the Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Alh. Muktar Lugga charged all participants to take whatever discussion that may be made in the event seriously and to ensure it sinks down for peace to reign in the state.
He started this when he declared the occasion open on behalf of Dr Dauda Lawal, the Executive Governor of Zamfara State.
Highlights of the event was a presentation of playlet by the Zamfara State art and culture troupe.
