Jigawa state government has approved the release of sum of (€1,523,657) Euro equivalent to N1,700,000.000.00 for the payment of scholarship of 160 Jigawa State Indigene students.
In a statement shortly after the end of the weekly Executive Council meeting signed by the Commissioner of Information,
Youth, Sports and Culture, Sagir Musa Ahmed, said the fund released will cater
for 100 female and 60 male sponsored fully by the Jigawa State Government.
Recalled, Jigawa State transferred students from Sudan universities to
near East University, Cyprus for the 2023/2024 Academic Session as a result of crises that erupted the country.
The Council has also approved a memo presented by Ministry of Higher Education for the payment of tuition fees in respect of 184 no.
He further said 16 students sponsored by the INDIMI Foundation but state pay their upkeep and accommodation. While, 8 students were sponsored through Musabaqa program.
Also approved, include the awards of contracts for the emergency renovation of schools affected by storm damage
phase II across the State. “This second phase of the renovation will cover 14 Schools in the State at total contract cost of (N360,668,311.78).
“The renovation will cover blocks of Classrooms, Hostels, Laboratories, Wall fences, Toilets and Admin blocks”. Said Sagir.
