The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) command in Bauchi State says 288 suspects of drug related offense were arrested and seized 2.7 tons of various drugs between July, 2023 to June, 2024 in the State
The State Commander, Mr Ali Aminu stated this at a news conference to commemorate, 2024 International day against drugs abuse and illicit trafficking, June 26, in Bauchi.
According to him, the State Command has arrested 288 drug suspects with a grand total of 2.7 tons of various drugs.
“That includes cannabis sativa popularly known as Wee-wee, Diazepam, Exol-5. Pentazocine, Methamphetamine, Rohypnol and Tramadol) were seized from July, 2023-June, 2024,” he said.
Aminu further explained that 60 suspects have successfully been prosecuted and 51 pending cases at Federal High Court, Bauchi .
“While 35 clients or drug users had been counseled and rehabilitated, majority of them through brief interventions in NDLEA Custody in the State,” the Commander said
Aminu however warned the general public to stop indulging in the illicit use and trafficking of Narcotic drugs and Psychotropic Substances.
The Narcotics Commander however warned that anyone arrested with hard drugs would definitely be prosecuted.
He commended sister agencies in their tireless efforts to assist in apprehending drug dealers.
